About

My Art
I always liked to look at art, but never to make it . . . I just didn’t have the talent. But after retirement, I took a collage course under Istar Sarlin at the Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP) and found that I was able to compose progressive art that made me happy.
The next year, I took a similar course, taught by Carol Sterling at the IRP. Then, while spending the summers in Fire Island, I noted all the construction scrap wood lying around. Seemed like an opportunity to construct some “structures.” And so, every summer, I added a few pieces, which involved sanding, priming, coloring and then the most difficult part: creating an object.
I get great joy from doing this. I think it shows that there is some artistic talent in all of us. You just have to give it a chance to come out!
